Love: The Perfume of the Soul

red-rose-1275807_960_720The rose is a flower that has for centuries held the imagination. Why is this? I think on some level it is rich with deeper, esoteric connotations. It has been said the soul is a symbol of a beautiful flower that radiates the “perfume” of Divine Love.

It is through our attraction to the qualities of soul that we find the upward way. At first, it begins its journey of revelation with tightly closed petals. With each lesson learned another love petal opens. Eventually, a love for higher truth opens the door to clear perception. More doors open until we are literally flooded with revelation, the beauty and grandeur of which is beyond description.

Love is in all our tests, in our chaos and in our aspiration, because this leads to our spiritual growth from individual to cosmic. Humanity must learn in thought, word and deed to live in terms of love. Love serves the great masses of humanity as life giving energy and a protection from any negative forces.

An opportunity is being presented to us now as we enter the Age of Aquarius. We are now being called to open the heart petals and journey into a new field of human exploration and group endeavor. We are poised to enter the domain of love in which more of the mysteries of life will be unveiled.

This idea is reflected beautifully in the Mantram of Unification:

“The sons of men are one and I am one with them.
I seek to love, not hate;
I seek to serve and not exact due service;
I seek to heal, not hurt.
Let pain bring due reward of light and love.
Let the soul control the outer form, and life and all events
And bring to light the love that underlies the happenings of the time.
Let vision come and insight.
Let the future stand revealed.
Let inner union demonstrate and outer cleavages be gone.
Let love prevail. Let all men love.” — Alice Bailey
